DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - It has been a crazy weather ride throughout the summer. Now, the first full day of fall is in, and so is more rain.

Sure, this rain puts a hold on harvest season, but it is nothing prolonged, and it is very much needed. A few areas were able to pick up a thunderstorm earlier Tuesday, leading to small pockets of two-inch rain amounts. That, unfortunately, does little for the long-term drought since a lot of it fell in a short period of time, so it did not have time to percolate through the first few inches of topsoil.

Additional rain showers and a thundershower will continue through the night into Wednesday. However, the coverage and duration will become less and less with time.

More summer warmth is in the short-term forecast, although the humidity should not be a problem.

Stay safe and stay sweaty out there.
