High pressure returns for the start of the week

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Saturday and Central Illinois! A transition to high pressure today will bring breezy conditions and decreasing cloud cover across the region.

While some spotty, lake-enhanced drizzle remains possible early on, dry air is quickly moving in to clear things out. Expect afternoon temperatures to reach a comfortable high in the mid to upper 70s as skies gradually brighten.

Breezy winds will persist into tonight as the high-pressure system continues to settle into place. Under clearing skies, temperatures will cool down steadily, with overnight lows dropping into the low 60s.

Looking ahead to the upcoming work week, high pressure will dominate the weather pattern, bringing a return of abundant sunshine and a gradual warming trend. Highs will climb back into the low 80s for the first half of the week, offering a beautiful stretch of weather. The dry pattern will remain firmly locked in, with our next chance of rain holding off until late Wednesday.
