DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - A cold front that moved through yesterday evening is ushering in a refreshing break from the heat. If you're looking for a few days of pleasant weather, you're in luck — but enjoy it while it lasts.

What to Expect This Week

Thursday starts cool with temperatures in the low 60s and mostly clear skies. As the day progresses, expect steady warming with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will reach the low 80s — perfect weather for outdoor plans. The comfortable conditions continue into the evening, with temperatures dropping quickly after sunset. Overnight lows will settle into the upper 50s and low 60s.

Friday looks even better. Mostly sunny skies and low humidity will make it feel like an ideal late August day. Highs will warm into the low 80s, giving you another great day to be outside without the oppressive heat.

Saturday will be just slightly warmer, with highs in the mid-80s and continued pleasant conditions.

The Heat Returns Early Next Week

Don't get too comfortable — a ridge of high pressure building into the Midwest will bring a significant warmup. By the end of August and into early September, temperatures will soar into the low 90s. With the humidity that typically accompanies this pattern, "feels like" temperatures could reach the upper 90s and even low 100s.

No Rain in Sight

There are no rain chances expected through the next seven days, so outdoor plans should remain on track.
