DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Time is the ongoing, irreversible sequence of events from the past, through the present and into the future. So, it was always known that frost (and eventually a freeze) would return to the region.
You can see that we are nearing the tail end of the average first frost date, and that is exactly what is in the forecast.
A widespread frost that will eventually kill ragweed will put an end to the allergy season of 2025. It may also put an end to your backyard garden.
Recent wind gusts will allow temperatures to stay away from a potential frost on Tuesday night. However, as wind diminishes and the heavier cold air (at least when compared to warmer air) is allowed to sink to ground level, frost will form later this week. And, it may come in a double dose, or two nights/mornings in a row.
