DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - There's been a lot of talk about our latest supermoon, and rightly so as it remains visible in the night sky tonight. However, the source region for our air working in conjunction with sunshine has led to mild afternoons of late.

Despite some high clouds to dim the sun on Thursday, it'll be another mild afternoon, just not as warm as Wednesday. Regardless, many of us feel an instant boost in mood and energy when the sun is out. But beyond the warmth and light, sunshine plays a crucial role in our health by helping our bodies produce vitamin D. Often called the "sunshine vitamin," vitamin D is essential for bone health, immune function and overall well-being.

Just 10-15 minutes of sun exposure on your skin a few times a week is usually enough to maintain healthy vitamin D levels. However, it's important to balance sun exposure with skin protection to reduce the risk of skin damage.
