DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weather of late has been anything but February-like. That's about to change.Â
We already had a plethora of wind and warmth today. That's two dubs (W's). The other is wet weather. While shower activity will be spotty under the cover of darkness, it will enhance some wind gusts toward, or in excess of 40 mph. Whew! Â
Additional warm weather will pile on for Ash Wednesday and Thursday. While winds will diminish Wednesday, the warmth will build. A few areas will likely break open the record book. Sadly, this type of warmth is not sustainable. A cold front approaching Thursday not only brings showers and thunderstorms, but also the risk of severe weather. Gusty winds will be the biggest issue with these storms, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.Â
Enjoy the warmth, but stay safe and stay weather-aware.Â
