DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The world is a wild place, especially when it comes to weather.
Today's hottest weather goes out to Abadan, Iran, as 118 degrees was recorded for the afternoon high temperature. And you thought our recent run in the 90s was hot! On the flip side, Dome C on the eastern plateau of Antarctica, sitting at an elevation just over 10,000 feet, dipped to negative 86 degrees. Ouch!

Closer to home, 107 degrees was the hottest in the contiguous USA. It was a tie between Rio Grande Village, TX, Death Valley, CA, and just south of Tolleson, AZ. The coldest was also a tie. If you know anyone near Big Bay, MI, and Covington, MI, they were shivering this morning. Both are situated in the Upper Peninsula of the state, where it was as cold as 27 degrees. Brrrr.Â
For us, continue to expect slightly cool nights followed by seasonable afternoons through the holiday weekend.Â
Happy Labor Day!
Stay safe and stay sweaty.Â
