2 dead after separate traffic crashes in Christian County

(WAND) - Two people are dead following two separate traffic crashes in Christian County on Wednesday.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office stated that the first crash happened before 8 a.m. Oct. 15 at the intersection of 1300 East Road and 2000 North Road.

The Sheriff's Office said a car was driving west on 2000 North Road when it failed to stop at the intersection and crashed into the driver's side of a car driven by 37-year-old Jessica Stephens.

Stephens died from her injuries.

Later that day, the Sheriff's Office said it received a call at 5:20 p.m. about another two-vehicle crash near 003 North 1300 East Road.

91-year-old Mary Ann Johnson was driving west on 000 North Road when she was hit by a pickup truck heading south on 1300 East Road.

Both drivers were hospitalized at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, and Johnson later died from her injuries.

Both crashes are still under investigation.
