Baskin-Robbins in Springfield is anticipating a return in the new year after a van crashed into its MacArthur location in June 2025.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A popular ice cream shop in Springfield is anticipating a return in the new year.

Baskin-Robbins announced on Facebook Friday that construction is currently underway as it plans to relocate to its original location at 1700 S. MacArthur.

One person was taken to the hospital after a van plowed into the original MacArthur location June 17. A significant portion of the front of the building, including the sign and most of the roof had collapsed in the crash.

The shop urged customers to be on the lookout for a spring/summer 2026 grand reopening.

"We are thrilled to return to the neighborhood we have served and cherished for decades. Our commitment to staying close to our community has been reaffirmed, and we feel fortunate to have this opportunity," Baskin-Robbins said in the post.
