MAHOMET, Ill. (WAND)- Mahomet, IL resident Jason Lindsey and co-director Scott Krahn have released an award-winning short documentary titled "It's Time."
The 4-minute film, which won "Best in Show" at the Bensenville Short Film Festival and "Best Environment/Nature Short Film" at the Sittannavasal International Film Festival, uses the practice of maple syrup making as a metaphor for environmental awareness.
The project began in 2019 during Lindsey's personal journey of making syrup in his backyard and explores themes of climate change and Indigenous wisdom.
Set along the Sangamon River, the film features stunning visuals and acknowledges the traditions of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wabanaki peoples.
