Champaign County History Museum to launch its America 250 commemoration

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign County History Museum will launch its America 250 commemoration with a free public kickoff celebration.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 13, followed by Forging Liberty: The Road to Independence, where 21 authentic founding documents will be on display in an exhibition at the Champaign Public Library from Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, June 21.

The June 13 kickoff celebration will begin at 2 PM at the Champaign County History Museum, located at 102 East University Avenue, Champaign. The free program will include the National Anthem, opening remarks, a ceremonial flag-lowering and flagraising of a commemorative America 250 Flag, special music, a semi-quincentennial proclamation by Champaign Mayor Deb Feinen, a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, and refreshments.
