CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign police and fire departments will be holding joint training exercises next week at The High School of St. Thomas More.Â
The training will be on Monday, July 13, Wednesday, July 15, and Friday, July 17, running from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.Â
Drills will help emergency responders strengthen their coordinated response.Â
Residents may see multiple first responder vehicles and an increased police presence. Exercises will involve the use of training weapons with non-projectile "blank" rounds. Blank rounds can only be used inside the building but may be heard by people in the surrounding area.
Avoid the training site. The High School of St. Thomas More and its parking lots will be closed during the training.Â
