DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Area Poets has announced its finalists for the 2025 Macon County High School Student Poetry Competition. 

Decatur Area Poets said on Facebook that seven schools submitted 79 entries, including Eisenhower, MacArthur, Warrensburg, Mt. Zion, Meridian, St. Teresa and Unity Christian.

The seven finalists are Lillian Binkley (MacArthur), Audrey Brent (Mt. Zion), Ava Collins (St. Teresa), Amelia Flack (Meridian), Nazir Gardiner (Eisenhower), Kameryn Gray (Warrensburg) and Halle Mize (Unity Christian). 

Each finalist will present their poems at an event in January, and the top three poets will receive monetary prizes. 

The seven finalists will also be published in the annual "Inkwell" anthology and featured in the upcoming Book Release Event. 

The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Decatur Public Library.
