DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Local fathers and young men gathered in Decatur Saturday morning for a fellowship breakfast celebrating fathers.

The breakfast featured donuts, drinks, and guest speakers.

Host Antwane McClelland said the event is about building a connection.

"I just want to make this a safe space for men to come together, building each other up for a common goal," McClelland said.

Attendees of the event listened to speakers talk about topics ranging from effective parenting to personal growth.

The event was meant to celebrate and recognize the fathers in the community. 

"Some kids still, as an adult, struggle with things, "said McClelland. "Sometimes they have to lean on their parents, and I just want to be there for my kids all the time and be there for people in the community as well."
