CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend team is offering a free hands-only CPR training program.
There are sessions on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. at Christie Clinic at the Fields, 2nd Floor (3101 Fields S Dr., Champaign, IL 61822).
The program is open to all runners, community members, and visitors.
The program was created after last year's Race Weekend when 45-year-old Christie surgeon Rafael Ruggieri suffered cardiac arrest while running in the Christie Clinic Illinois Half Marathon.
Ruggieri's son who was running with him performed CPR and helped save his life.
