SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Artist in the Park at Food Truck Fridays will return to Union Square Park this summer.
The Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC), along with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and Downtown Springfield Inc. made the announcement on Wednesday.
The free summer event series will take place every Friday from May 30 to August 1 in Union Square Park, located at 500 E. Madison Street in downtown Springfield.
From 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., the park will feature live performances by local artists, including musicians, dancers, and poets. This year’s lineup includes the Copper Coin Ballet Company, Capital Big Band, Jose Gobbo, and Springfield Poets and Writers.
Food trucks will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., offering a variety of lunch options.
Bella Szabo, Executive Director of the Springfield Area Arts Council, said, “We’re thrilled to bring back this beloved summer tradition. It’s a great way to support local artists, enjoy delicious food, and build community—right in the middle of your day.”
The event is free, family-friendly, accessible, and sensory-friendly. There will be outdoor seating available in the park, and if it rains, performances will move indoors with seating provided.
