MORRISONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - The Morrisonville Fire Department celebrated a major upgrade to its fleet with the arrival of a brand-new fire truck, the department's first new truck in over two decades.

It will be a big help for the village's emergency response, and the new truck will increase the department's total on-scene water capacity from about 6,000 gallons to 8,000 gallons if all trucks are deployed.

That is a significant jump that Fire Chief Paul Parkin said can make a major difference during fire calls.

The new addition brings the department's fleet to six trucks total.

Parkin added that the last brand-new truck purchased by the department happened in 2001, making this a major technological and operational upgrade.
