DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)- Several Principal and Assistant Principal positions were filled during Tuesday's nights Decatur Public School Board meeting.
The board voted for the following four candidates to fill each position:
- Principal Johns Hill Magnet School -Â Michelle Bonebreak
- Principal Muffley Elementary - Maria Wiggens
- Assistant Principal Eisenhower - Antone King
- Assistant Principal MacArthur - Stephen Thompson
All candidates were approved.Â
The board also discussed the progress made on the Ellsworth Dansby Junior Magnet School.
Construction Project Manager Bryan Carper updated the status of the new school building, saying it should be completed by the end of 2024.
Carper also informed the council that the project has already hit some major milestones including: finishing all of the framing, concrete poured in west parking lot, concrete poured for sidewalk/ side street parking, and the drywall process has begun.
Over the next 6-7 months, crews will begin the fiber cement siding and the drywall process, finish the storefront glass enclosures, power wash the exterior, and continue MEPFP installation, amongst other projects.
