DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A new sculpture unveiled Monday in Decatur honors the city's relationships with its sister cities.

The sculpture reflects the shared history Decatur has with Tokorozawa, Japan and Seevetal, Germany.

Six high school students from Tokorozawa attended the ceremony to emphasize the theme of community.

President of Decatur Sister Cities Jacalyn Osborne shared what the sculpture represents.

"This commemorates our relationship. After World War II, President Eisenhower said we need a good relationship, and we need friendship, so this is how the sister cities were established," Osborne said.

The sculpture is located in Downtown Decatur by the Transfer House.
