NEWMAN, Ill. (WAND) — It's the end of an era for one Douglas County restaurant. The Corn Crib in Newman will close its doors in June.

The owners announced in a Facebook post that the restaurant will officially close on June 15.

"Owning a business that brought the community together was a job of joy," the post says. "And the idea that we were the background to so many of your memories will fill our hearts with gratitude long after our doors close for good."

The restaurant's hours will also change leading up to the closure.

Starting May 19th, they will be closed every Monday and Tuesday. The hours will remain the same on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, but the menu and seating options will be limited.

Their dining room will be closed on Saturdays, but the bar will open in the afternoons until 1 a.m., also with a limited menu.

The post also mentions that the restaurant will host one final Freedom Festival weekend. That is set to take place on Saturday, June 14 from 12-6 p.m.
