SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — With just a few weeks until Christmas, you still have plenty of time to get a Christmas tree. While Christmas tree farms may be few and far between in Central Illinois, one farm in Shelbyville is continuing the tradition.
The Schwengel family started No Bad Days Farm in 2019 to honor their son, Tucker, who died in 2016. His mother, Stephanie Schwengel, said he was so full of love and positivity, and his family wanted to spread love in his honor.
"Tucker, his thought or motto was 'no bad days'. So that's how it became No Bad Days Farm. He was a big personality kid and just a real loving person," she said. "That's what we try to do, we try to live up to that."
Along with a love for others, the Schwengels also boast a big appreciation for Christmas. Through No Bad Days Farm, they hope to spread that love and appreciation to others.
"Our family always enjoyed Christmas. The five of us always pile in the old truck and head out to a Christmas tree farm. And that's kind of what led us to this point," said father and farm owner, Kenny Schwengel. "Just take in the whole experience and make those traditions that were so important to us."
No bad Days Farm gets their Christmas trees from Michigan, and boasts a fire pit, popcorn and hot chocolate, and a beautiful view.
No Bad Days Farm still has hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, and additional hours by appointment only.
