Sangamon Co. races decided with razor-thin margins

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)- The votes are in; Sangamon County has finalized the totals of three races, which have razor-thin margins, after counting provisional and late-arriving mail-in ballots on Tuesday.

Republican challenger Frank Lesko has defeated Democratic incumbent Josh Langfelder for the Office of Sangamon County Recorder.

Lesko was leading after the initial vote tallies, and his victory has now been confirmed. He won by just 37 votes.

In another close race, Republican Jennifer Deaner narrowly defeated challenger Jennifer Merritt in the District 25 Sangamon County Board race, which was decided by only 7 votes.

In District 12, Democrat Marc Ayers defeated Republican Colleen Lucas Cavanagh by 211 votes.
