DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — After years of preparation, Danville cannabis dispensary Seven Point hosted the grand opening of its cannabis lounge.
A cannabis lounge provides a safe, controlled environment for consumers to use cannabis responsibly.
Just a few years after they broke ground on their location in Danville, Co-Founder and CEO Brad Zerman said the community had already shown up to support in their first weeks of being open.
"Our goal always has been to open a smoke lounge. So people could have a safe place to smoke," Zerman said.
Zerman is also focused on creating a communal space. Seven Point is not just a spot for cannabis enthusiasts. The dispensary sells records and music memorabilia. The lounge sells food and drinks and hosts music bingo, karaoke, open mic nights, and live music and comedy shows.
This comes after Danville City Council amended its cannabis dispensary ordinance to allow cannabis lounges.Â
Patrons of Seven Point who wish to utilize the consumption lounge can only use products they purchase from Seven Point. No outside cannabis or cannabis-infused products are allowed on the premises. This ensures that the product is both safe and regulated for use.
If customers need additional equipment to smoke the cannabis — like bongs or pipes — Seven Point will provide sanitized equipment for no extra cost.
In addition to serving safe products, Seven Point also creates a safe environment for cannabis consumption. All patrons' IDs will be scanned upon entering the building; no patrons under 21 are allowed inside. There are also metal detectors and an armed security guard.
