CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) — One man is dead and a women was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle accident Friday night in Christian County.
Illinois State Police said the accident happened on October 11 around 9:30 p.m. just south of North 2200 East Road in Christian County.
According to police, the driver, a 42-year-old woman from Pana, was driving southbound on Illinois Route 29 south of North 2200 East Road. They said she left the roadway for "unknown reasons," hit a culvert, and her vehicle stopped in a nearby ditch. The woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the passenger, a 60-year-old man from Pana, had fatal injuries.
The accident closed the road until around 3:15 a.m. Police said the crash is still under investigation and have nothing further to report at this time.
