DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Saturday marked "Small Business Saturday," and Decatur saw its first major snow storm of the winter season.

Although snow was piling up — some shoppers still bundled up and made their way out to support local businesses.

"With the snow this year, it just didn't go well for us," said Del's Popcorn manager Annah Hulva.

With more than six inches of snow falling, KC finds retail store had big plans before the snow started. From hot cocoa to a visit from Santa, the store expected a lot of foot traffic for local vendors.

"It supports over 150 local businesses in town. You know, people that are trying to get started with their brands and things like that and just sell their goods," said owner of KC Finds Carol Kesler.

Del's Popcorn store downtown smells like Christmas cheer, but only a few customers could enjoy it. The love for local businesses keeps customers coming, even in a winter storm.

"It keeps us going, and it gives local people jobs and just overall keeps the money local," said Hulva.

Decatur small business owners said they appreciate whoever visits them today. As the snow keeps falling, stay safe, cozy, and updated on the WAND Weather App.
