SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Calling all animal lovers ... now is your chance to open your heart for furry friends everywhere. 

This week is National Adoption Week and the Animal Protective League is asking residents to consider adopting pets at their local pet store.

APL is partnering with PetSmart Charities to hold adoption events taking place July 21-27 at the PetSmart in Springfield.
