WAND November Educator of the Month Winner

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The WAND November Educator of the Month is Matt Edwards.

Edwards is a first grade teacher at Warrensburg-Latham Elementary School in Mattoon.

Edward's nomination came from someone who co-taught with him for their first eight years as an educator. They noted that Edwards is beloved by his students who look forward to spending their days with him.

Here's an excerpt from the nomination:

Mr. Edwards not only teaches his students the necessary skills of reading, writing, and math, but he also demonstrates what it means to be a kind, loyal, GOOD person who truly makes a difference in the lives of all who know him.

Edward's win came with a personalized plaque and $500.

WAND's Educator of the Month series aims to honor outstanding individuals in education across central Illinois.
