The Warrensburg Police Department will soon have a new 2026 Chevy Tahoe thanks to a grant from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. April 13, 2026.

WARRENSBURG, Ill. (WAND) – The Warrensburg Police Department is grateful to the Howard G. Buffett Foundation for a new grant which will allow them to buy a new police vehicle.

The foundation is providing a grant to law enforcement departments in Blue Mound, Warrensburg, Mt. Zion and Maroa totaling $1.3 million. The small departments will use the money to buy new 2026 Chevrolet Tahoes. Decatur, the Macon County Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur Park District are also receiving money for their police departments.

The money allowing Warrensburg to buy a new Tahoe helps when budgets are tight.

“As a small departments we to year to year and we prioritize the best we can do four our community and for our constituents,” Police Chief Gregory Wheeler told WAND News.
