JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - An 18-year-old was killed in a shooting Thursday in Jacksonville.
On Thursday, June 6, at 8:13 p.m., Jacksonville Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of West College Ave.
Officers found the victim who had suffered injuries consistent with gunshots. The victim was rushed to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital where he passed away.
The scene was secured and the Jacksonville Police Department, along with the Morgan County Coroner’s Office and the Morgan County States Attorney’s Office are investigating.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notifications.
The police have identified a person of interest and believe the individuals were known to each other, but an arrest has not been made at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call the Jacksonville Police Department.Â
