DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Serving 150 vendors in Decatur, KC Finds is closing its doors on July 26. Store closing signs are already up on the front doors.
“I just can’t keep dealing with a leaky roof. It’s destroyed merchandise. It’s destroyed vendors' merchandise,” owner Carol Kesler told WAND News Thursday afternoon. “Honestly, we’re heartbroken. We want it to be more than just a store here in Decatur.”
The giant store is situated in a former ACE Hardware at 2809 N. Main Street. In the past 18 months, Kesler said she has dealt with 150 separate roof leaks.
One vendor is MRI, which serves people with disabilities and sells their crafts at KC Finds.
“Handmade items with disabilities. It’s really been a really wonderful partnership,” said MRI CEO Amy Bliefnick. “At KC Finds, we’re able to make crafts, t-shirts. We made specialized license plates. So, it provides jobs for the people we serve."
Kesler added she is open to moving to another location.
