MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) - A 19-year-old woman who was killed after being hit by a train Thursday afternoon in Mt. Zion has been identified.

The victim was identified by the Macon County Coroner as Hannah E. Claghorn.
It happened at the Baltimore crossing.
Police say she was riding her bike south on the bike trail when she was struck.
Officer Larry Brooks, a Mt. Zion PD patrol officer on the scene, explained what they had found in the investigation so far. "As she was approaching, the train lights were on, the train itself had its horn and bell going. And the young lady, unfortunately, either did not see the train or thought she could beat it at some point." he said.
Mount Zion Police Department was assisted by Long Creek and Mount Zion fire and ambulance service on scene, and Macon County Sheriff's Department during the investigation. "This was not an easy scene for any of us." Officer Brooks said.
Both the Baltimore and Westside crossings were closed for several hours while police investigated, but have since been reopened.
Once Mt. Zion Police Department concludes their investigation, that information will be handed off to the railroad so they can conduct their own investigation.
