JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) -- Two Pikeland CUSD #10 high school students have died after a two-vehicle crash in rural Morgan County.
It happened around 2:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and Woodson Winchester Road.
Which is just west of Woodson.
Pikeland CUSD #10 Superintendent Todd Fox, sharing a statement on their facebook page late Saturday night.
Fox said, it was a senior and junior that died in the crash.
He said, "As a school and community, we are in absolute shock and overwhelmed with grief."
The school will have counseling and resources available for students, staff and community members in the days ahead.
He asked the community to keep the families of the two students who died and the those that were injured in their thoughts and prayers.
The Morgan County Coroner said, they are not releasing the names of the two people pending notification of the next of kin.
The accident is being investigated by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
