3 in hospital after car rear-ends Humvee

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – Three people are in hospital care after a crash on Interstate 72. 

The News-Gazette reports 20-year-old Roberts man Jacob Gonzales' Chevy Impala slammed into the back of a Humvee driven by 25-year-old Tyler Britt of Champaign. 

Troopers say the Impala went into a ditch while the Humvee overturned. They say Gonzales, Britt and Leah Lutz, 33, all needed hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Lutz was riding in the Humvee. 

Troopers say all three people had seat belts on. The newspaper says they cited Gonzales for failing to slow down.

A traffic crash led to troopers closing part of Interstate 72 eastbound around mile marker 128 near Niantic.
