TAZWELL COUNTY, Ill. (25 NEWS NOW) - All four young people arrested in the Mackinaw murder-for-hire plot in 2021 will spend decades in prison.
The victim’s own daughter is among the group sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to setting up her mother’s murder with promises of big money to her helpers.
The convicted includes daughter Dahlia Bolin, who was just 15 years old at the time, and 20-year-old Nathaniel Maloney. Bolin was sentenced to 60-years in prison. Maloney was given 66-years.
A second man, 19-year-old Andre Street, took a plea deal and was sentenced to 55-years. The getaway driver, 21-year-old Sage Raeuber, was sentenced to 30-years in prison.
It was October 2021 when police responded to the home to find both Rebecca and Douglas Bolin shot. Rebecca died.
Previous court documents show that three of the four teens admitted to police that there was a plot created in advance to kill the couple, but no motive has been revealed.
As part of the plea deals, all four would have to testify for any further court proceedings if more people are charged.
Tazewell County State’s Attorney Kevin Johnson said in a statement that the four guilty pleas are the result of an “exemplary” investigation by the sheriff’s office. He says all four were located and detained within 48 hours of the murder.
