TUSCOLA, Ill. (WAND) - Cicadas are emerging across central Illinois and one local art gallery is celebrating the historical event.
This year, people are noticing the rare albino cicada, and the 2 broods that haven't been seen in over 200 years. To celebrate, The Vault Art Gallery in Tuscola is hosting the Cicada Palooza.
"We've been kind of talking about putting the event together and just came up with these kind of fun ideas and that's also education and art related." said Cindy Pringle, on the Board of Directors at The Vault Art Gallery.
Jessica Beck and her son noticed the albino cicada in their yard.
"They started appearing this past week. My son found them on the back of our shed and so he's been searching for them ever since." said Beck.
