DECATUR—The YMCA was a buzz Saturday with kids and their families for The Backpack Attack.

They gave out 2 thousand three hundred backpacks filled with supplies to students for free.

 

That's the most they've given out. Demand has grown since last year, when 2,100 were given out.

Organizers say the event helps kids start the year off prepared.

 

There were also fun and games for kids and families to enjoy including bounce houses, face painting, and a train for kids to ride around.

 

Those backpacks made possible by corporate sponsors--Caterpillar, ADM, and Neuhoff media. Â
