DECATUR, Ill (WAND)- Since the winter months, reports of bed bugs continues to be a cause for concern in the Decatur and surrounding communities. So much so that officials with the health department and various social services formed a 'bed bug task force'.
Administrator with the Macon County Health Department Dianna Heyer said, "everybody seems to be having an issue with it, it doesn't matter where you come from what your background is, everyone is suseptible to bed bugs."
Heyer adds that if you are unsure if you are a victim of the bugs to wash your sheets, mattress pad and other upholstered furniture and take high heat to them to kill the bugs.Â
She says, ""they love mattresses, box springs, upholstered furniture, they tend to not like a hard smooth surface as much as something that's upholstered."
The task force meets once a month on the third Wednesday at 9:30 in the morning at the Health Department.Â
