CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The first ever C.A.R.E. Talks was held at the Virginia Theater where community leaders, professors, and elected officials got to share their plans on how they hope to heal their community.

"We tried to make it in a format where we can bring community members into kind of a fold of what these resources are and what they have to offer," said Talk Coordinator, Matthew De Venecia.

The goal of the organizers was for everyone to leave more educated about their community and reassured that someone was fighting on their behalf.

"They can leave knowing more about what's going on in the community to address social justice efforts but also that they feel connected and that they know that people are working on their behalf," said PhD student, Whitney Clarke.
