GLENARM, Ill. (WAND) — The coroner has released the name and cause of death for a woman found dead in a car in rural Sangamon County.

28-year-old Laquita Harris was pronounced dead at the scene in the 600 block of Horse Farm Road near Glenarm Saturday morning. 

The sheriff's office said a passerby noticed a Kia SUV stopped in the road earlier that morning, and then saw smoke come from the vehicle around 10:15 a.m.

The Divernon Fire Department found Harris dead in the Kia after extinguishing the fire. The coroner's office said initial findings show Harris died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

No information regarding the cause of the fire has been released.
