URBANA, Ill. (WAND) –A Champaign man has been indicted with robbing the Community Plus Federal Credit Union in Rantoul, Illinois, on June 20, 2024.
On Tuesday, a grand jury returned the indictment of Troy D. Burke, 41.
Burke was arrested in Rantoul on June 20, 2024, by officers of the Rantoul Police Department and has remained in the custody of law enforcement since that date.
He was initially charged by the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office and later charged by federal complaint.
Prosecutors said, if convicted, the maximum statutory penalties for the crime charged are up to 20 years of imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release.
The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
