Charleston-native, Champaign YMCA swimmer heads to Paris Olympics

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Charleston-native and former Champaign County YMCA Heat Swim Team member Angie Coe has been selected to represent Chinese Taipei in swimming at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Coe graduated from Charleston High School in 2023 and is currently a freshman on the University of Texas swim team. Before heading to Texas, she was a No. 1 ranked swimmer in Illinois and a four-time finalist at the 2022 YMCA SC National Championships.

"We are thrilled and immensely proud of Angie for her achievement in being selected to compete for Chinese Taipei at the 2024 Summer Olympics," said Heat Coach Will Barker. "Angie's journey from Heat to the global stage is a testament to her hard work and the supportive environment provided by our program."

Coe started swimming at 4 years old and has a sister on the West Point swim team.
