SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A man is dead after a shooting in downtown Springfield early Saturday morning.

Springfield police officers responded to the 400 block of East Washington Street just before 1 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground that had been shot. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
