DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A local Decatur restaurant is stepping up to help feed the community with federal SNAP benefits set to be cut on November 1.
Bobbie Lane's BBQ announced in a Facebook post that those who are struggling can come grab a ticket off their "pay it forward wall."
The wall has tickets that have been paid for by someone else, allowing people to eat on the house. Tickets are good for one pulled pork sandwich and one side.
Bobbie Lane's started the trend by putting up the first 20 tickets themselves. The business said the wall is filling up and several people have already come in and eaten for free.
People can donate to the wall in person or by sending money to the business' cashapp, $blbbq23.Â
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
