DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — An 18-year-old man is in the hospital after a shooting in Decatur early Sunday morning.

The Decatur Police Department told WAND news that officers responded to the 1700 block of East Lawrence Street at around 6:42 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunshots in the area.

DPD said officers found bullet casings, and one house in the neighborhood was damaged by the shots. Police said the shooting was not targeted.

Shortly after police responded, an 18-year-old man showed up to Decatur Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower back. According to DPD, the man drove himself to the hospital, and his car had damage from bullets.

Police said the victim is in critical but stable condition, and he was transferred to a different area hospital for more advanced treatment.
