DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — When children and families face unimaginable challenges, having a place to turn for support can make all the difference. That’s the driving mission of Child 1st Center.
The center is a vital nonprofit organization providing child advocacy and support services across Central Illinois.
"We provide services for approximately 350 kids each year in Macon and Piatt counties," said Director Jean Dubree.
Founded in July 1999, Child 1st Center has been a beacon of hope for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other forms of trauma. The center offers specialized services in a safe environment.
"We don't want kids to feel like they're in an institution. We don't want them to feel like they're closed in," explained Dubree. "We want everybody to feel welcome when they come here."
The organization has worked tirelessly over the past 25 years to protect and empower the community's most vulnerable members. It works closely with law enforcement, DCFS, and State Attorney Offices to advocate for the youngest generation.
The organization is strictly grant-funded and relies on the community's support to protect children. To learn more, click here.
