CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Inspired by life-saving intervention, the Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend team has launched a new community CPR training program.
In April 2023, during the Christie Clinic Half Marathon, a 45-year-old surgeon suffered a cardiac arrest while running in Meadowbrook Park. Thanks to the immediate response of Rafael Ruggieri's son, Isaac, and three other runners trained in Hands-Only CPR, Rafael survived.
There will be four free Hands-Only CPR training sessions. They will be held on Saturday, February 8, at Christie Clinic at The Fields, 3101 Fields S Dr, Champaign. The sessions are scheduled at 1:00, 1:45, 2:15, and 3:00 p.m.
