DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A charity fundraiser will be hosted this weekend to support the family of Kavari Drisdell, the 12-year-old boy killed late Sunday night while riding his bike.

"A lot of people forget about them. After the funeral, they forget all about them," said Matthew Joyner, Founder of Feed the Forgotten and organizer of the fundraiser. "The parents are glad, they're happy I'm doing this and I just can't wait to see their faces. It's always great when you can help a family in need."

Joyner says he hopes the fundraiser can help the family with expenses while they mourn their son and brother.

"I want them to know that we can do this together. It takes a village," Joyner said. "I can't do it by myself. I'm going to need my community to step up with me, so let's keep this going. Let's not stop here. The goal is to show people caring is always the best way to be in life."

The fundraiser is this Saturday, June 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Spirit of Truth Hub Center off of N. Main St.

The fundraiser will also benefit a child with cancer.
