DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — It’s the season of giving, and a local business owner is in the spirit by donating ten laptop computers to a community outreach program providing an after school program for kids.

Computers donated to the Shemilah Community Outreach Center in Decatur, Illinois December 5, 2024.
Perry Lewin, owner of Decatur Jewelry & Pawn, made the donation to the Shemilah Outreach Center.
Lewin says his donation will help get young kids off to the right start as they begin school.
“If you can get the young kids now you can help keep them off of the streets later which will help the community in so many different ways,” Lewin told WAND News. “The future of Decatur depends on the youth of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.”
Lewin is hopeful other residents and Decatur business leaders will donate time and money to the center.
