Urbana, IL- Genetically modified corn, known as B-T corn, has controlled crop destroying bugs for years.  But some scientists say the bugs could make a come back, because some farmers aren't complying with the Environmental Protection Agency.

Professor of Agricultural Entomology Michael Gray says his research shows up to 10% of Illinois farmers say they won't follow the "Corn Refuge Requirement."

The EPA requires that all farmers keep 20% of their field B-T hybrid free, in order to keep the bugs from developing a resistance to them.

Gray says the problem could hurt crops if farmers don't comply.  He hopes changes in the industry can control this problem and continue to keep the bugs at bay.
