BETHANY, Ill. (WAND) - A three-year-old child's life was saved thanks to the quick response from Bethany paramedics.

The Bethany Fire Protection District said that it got a call from a rural address around 5 p.m. March 15 for a three-year-old in cardiac arrest and CPR taking place.

Paramedics had gotten to the scene in four minutes.

BFPD stated that the child was urgently taken to a Decatur hospital while advanced life-saving measures were performed on the way.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the child had a strong pulse and was later taken to a regional specialty center.

According to BFPD, the Board of Trustees added a third full-time member in October 2025 due to the call volume and the need for ambulance services in the district and rural areas.
